Hi Helen
I watched a report earler about DNA they found or had.
New DNA in Oakland County Child Killer Case
Scientists at the Michigan State Police Crime Lab say they have completed a reanalysis of the evidence from the Oakland County Child Killer case. Their search turned up new genetic material.

The 7 Action News Investigators were first to report that the Michigan State Police were embarking on the evidence reanalysis in February of 2003.
Between 1976 and 1977, 4 children were abducted and murdered by someone who has eluded police and has become known as the Oakland County Child Killer.
“We did go over all of the children’s clothing and we did find some new stuff,” says Detective Sergeant Garry Gray of the Michigan State Police.
Gray says some of the DNA information they found still has to be compared to the DNA from 12 people who have been identified as the main suspects in the case.
“We had nothing but a single hair up until the lab went over all the information again,” explains Gray.
State police investigators say their work took more than 4 years to complete this process because the process was “very laborious” and “time consuming.” At times, investigators also had to put aside their work as new cases came in.
Sergeant Gray says more work needs to be done to determine if the new information will lead to an arrest, but this is a significant step.
“We’re excited about what we have found. I’m not saying it’s gonna solve the case, but it’s given us a little information, we’re going forward with that,” he says.
While this is exciting news, there is still a chance that the new DNA belongs to the victims themselves. Right now, the state police are in the process of ruling out that possibility. / By rumaj
