LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Attorney General Bill Schuette says his office has charged a current and an ex-prison worker along with an inmate on accusations they were part of a marijuana and tobacco smuggling ring at the Ryan Correctional Facility in Detroit.
Schuette says those charged are 27-year-old corrections officer Joseph L. Jordan, 37-year-old ex-officer Corey L. Young and 29-year-old prisoner Carlos Neely.
Schuette says Young and Jordan took payments from friends and relatives of prisoners in exchange for smuggling marijuana and tobacco products into their cells.
Charges against Jordan and Young include misconduct in office and giving marijuana to a prisoner. Neely faces contraband and drug charges.
The attorney general says state police arrested Jordan and Young on Tuesday.
The Associated Press left phone messages Thursday seeking comment from Jordan and Young.
