In March of 2001-when the anniversary of Tim King's drop off was approaching, I was so frustrated, eleven years had passed since I came into the case and it was going to be another year and the Oakland County Child Murder Victims were going to die yet again in the police files. I had already racked my brain and called everyone in the news media, across the U.S. to try to get some light shined on these cases. Then it came to me, I hadn't written to the Washington Times, so I decided to write and beg them for help. In a few days I received correspondence from Hugh Aynesworth, one page of his first email follows. Now I had heard of Hugh because he had written on the JFK assassination, about Henry Lee Lucas, Ted Bundy, Jack Ruby and at that time Hugh had been in the news business for over 50 years. I was ecstatic to think this man cared about these children. following is one of his first emails-( "Hi Helen: Thanks for the several messages. As you well might understand, this is very confusing for someone not in the least familiar with ANY of the murders. Is there a repository anywhere ( a library, police unit, private detective's files) that has ALL the media coverage of the murders? That would be my starting point, since we can't pinpoint where John is, and work from that level. When you talk of John's father, Steven Tobin, the shotgun, etc., it means a lot to you-- and perhaps others who have been steeped in these cases for many years-- but to a new comer it is only confusing. There MUST be case files somewhere still available, if there are friendly cops among those in charge of cold cases. And particularly there must be some record of all your input. We need to look closely to what was ignored as well as to what is known. Are there any politicians interested? Anybody running for Attorney General or Governor who had a role? Somebody who for the eventual publicity might help?" Hugh Aynesworth) - However, he could get no cooperation. No one in law enforcement seemed to know the facts of the case. Nor was anyone interested enough to give him any information which would further his cause. Imagine, this man was granted access to the Kennedy Assassination Files, to the Bundy files, to the Henry Lee Lucas files and the Jack Ruby Files as well as any and all other files he asked for. But the pompous A--holes in Michigan figured they did not need or want his help, as they could do it all on their own. After all, the only one in the media they couldn't control was that internet b--ch, Helen Dagner.
