Neighbor witnesses shooting in Livonia; woman found dead

Livonia— Police are investigating the death Sunday of a 35-year-old woman who was found shot in her driveway.
Officers were called to the 9400 block of Gillman about 3 p.m. on a report of shots fired. There they found the woman, who had been shot several times while sitting in her car.
Jason Wieske, 30, said he was moving into his new house across the street when the shooting happened.
"I had a moving truck in my driveway and some friends were helping move stuff into the house," he said. "Then all of a sudden, I see this car pull into the driveway of the house across the street, a man comes out of the house and he starts shooting at the woman driving the car."
Wieske said the man fired three shots at the woman with a handgun. Wieske said he and his friends immediately rushed into his garage so the gunman couldn't see them.
At the same time, another woman — whom Wieske said was the man's daughter — was trying to stop him; she screamed when he pulled the gun's trigger, he said.
Shortly after police arrived, they took into custody someone who knew the victim, according to a Livonia Police news release.
Police did not identify the person or the person's relationship to the woman, who has not been named.
They also recovered a weapon, a 9 mm semiautomatic pistol.
A little after 7 p.m. on Sunday, a tow truck summoned by police arrived at the victim's home to retrieve her vehicle, a silver Ford Fusion.
Because he's new to the neighborhood, Wieske said he didn't know the people involved in the shooting.
"Obviously, what happened is shocking," he said. "But I'm not too concerned about it. I talked to one of my neighbors who's lived in this neighborhood for 30 years, and she said it's safe and quiet."
