Highland Man Indicted In Stabbing Death Of His Mother News Photo 10/12/11 - A Highland Township man has been indicted in the stabbing and bludgeoning death of his mother. 21-year-old Jeffrey Pyne was arraigned this morning in Oakland County Circuit Court and is being held without bond. Pyne is charged with 1st degree pre-meditated murder in the death of his mother, 51-year-old Ruth Pyne, who was found beaten and repeatedly stabbed in the family’s garage in Highland Township on May 27th. A citizen’s grand jury has been sitting since June in Oakland County, reviewing 90 unsolved homicides and Pyne’s indictment is the first to be announced. Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper said the grand jury compelled Jeffrey Pyne’s family and acquaintances to testify, providing enough evidence to link him to the murder. Pyne will appear in court for a pre-trial hearing October 25th. If convicted, he faces life in prison without parole. (JM)
