MICHIGAN / 3 of 4 slain tied to website~Detroit Have Yet Another Serial Killer-
Detroit police say three of four women recently found dead in car trunks had promoted themselves as escorts through the same website. Chief Ralph Godbee said Monday the deaths could be connected but that police were "stopping short" of calling it the work of a serial killer. Police discovered the badly burned bodies of two women in a car trunk early Sunday, nearly a week after two other bodies were found nearby in another car trunk. All four women were in their 20s. Godbee said three of the four had profiles on a commerce website that also carried personal ads. Citing police, Reuters reported that three women were linked with "prearranged adult dating services" advertised on a website called Packages.

4 women found dead in car trunks; Detroit police tie 3 to escort services By msnbc.com staff
DETROIT -- The deaths of two women found inside a burning vehicle on Christmas morning are connected to the deaths a week earlier of two other women, Detroit's police chief said Monday.
All four deaths were ruled homicides and three of the four women were involved in an escort website, Police Chief Ralph Godbee told reporters.
The latest victims were found after firefighters responded to a car fire inside a home's garage at 1 a.m. on Christmas, clickondetroit.com reported. Their bodies were found inside the trunk.
The women's names were not released but police said they were 28 and 29 years old and had worked for an escort service listed on backpage.com.
On Dec. 19, the bodies of Renesha Landers, 23, and her 24-year-old cousin, Denesha Hunt, were found dead in the truck of Landers' car.
"Three of the four females have a connection" to backpage.com, Godbee said.

www.washingtonpost.com/national/detroit-police-say-killer-may-be-targeting-escorts-after-bodies-of-4-women-found-in-car-trunks/2011/12/27/gIQAm75nKP_story.html The latest victims were found Christmas morning, when Detroit firefighters discovered their badly burned bodies in the trunk of a car that had been set ablaze in a garage. They were identified as women ages 28 and 29, and police were awaiting a determination from the medical examiner’s office on the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, the families of Demesha Hunt, 24, and Renisha Landers, 23, whose bodies were found Dec. 19 in the trunk of a car parked in the driveway of a vacant home on the city’s east side, prepared for a joint funeral Thursday. The Detroit women had been reported missing by relatives after they didn’t return from a night out and police said there were no outer signs of trauma to the bodies.
