Oh Jesus Helen,I read your DNA post on the NO NO thread-You know what they are doing?-They took all the families DNA and they have Gunnels and all the other suspects that came before and they are running Ancestry DNA to go back several generations to get matches a cross boarders of people they never even knew they where related to. Your right it is a long shot. However it is better than getting nothing done on these cases,I'm sure they are going this way because the FBI Stats show that most abduction and murders are done by a blood line relative-This is going to be very Interesting.Dean

Of abducted children who are ultimately murdered,

By: Heather Catallo~Sources tell the 7 Action News Investigators that the term of the Oakland County grand jury has expired, and it’s no longer actively hearing evidence in the case. We’ve also learned no new requests for funding have been submitted to the county executive’s office to impanel another grand jury.
Bound by grand jury laws, Cooper won’t talk about what she has on the new suspect that’s come to light.
“Are you actively preparing to prosecute someone right now,” asked Catallo.
“I’m not able to comment one way or another,” said Cooper.

Helen,So, is this DNA campaign to rule out Tom Robinson? Mr. King? Cathy? This is a waste of time. If there was only one murdered child I could see it. However, why would a family member kill three other children from outside his family? …unless I am missing something here.

I don’t know Helen, this isn’t making much sense to me. I never thought too much of the autosomal DNA matc. Lt.

Helen,It's very much a long shot. It would be a real fluke if they found something linking the killer to a child, and that still doesn't prove anything. I think the results will come back something like Gunnels is related to "an Western European family group", or something very general like that. If they are trying to find out if somehow the victim and killer are family somehow, that's a ridiculous angle here, but whatever. I'm just happy to see the story making daily news now. I know you've seen it exploded all over every media here. Whether it solves anything or not, it's good to keep people talking about it. Doc

Could the Ancestry DNA be just a technicality? Maybe it's just a rule and regulation they go through. After all we're talking Michigan where not everything has to make sense and most times it doesn't. JJ

Helen,Is LE trying to determine if all 4 victims were related? MtDna is passed on through your Mother, it is relatively unchanged going back several hundred years, so if you had 2 women who were 9th cousins, with female relations straight down the line, then you would theoretically have a MtDNA match. A Son would inherit that same DNA but would not pass it on. A child ONLY inherits MtDNA from their Mother. Geo

Y-DNA I passed down the same way through the parental line. A straight descendant male would inherit basically the same Y-DNA markers as his 9th generation Great Grandfather. Women do not inherit ANY Y-DNA. If you’re a genealogist looking to test Y-DNA, you must enlist the help of a direct male relative.

Helen, Autosomal is fairly new. With autosomal you inherit it from all parents, grandparents and great grandparents, usually as far back as 5 or 6 generations. You’ll get tons of matches to the autosomal, yet trying to figure out exactly how they are related it d**n near impossible. Matt
