Some things have never changed in Law Enforcement since the 1976-77 OCCK murders, as every one is still jealously protecting their own jurisdictional turf -this problem is ongoing-Some well intentioned readers mistakenly jump to the conclusion that there was (Still is?) some sort of cover-up or wide ranging conspiracy of silence, when actually, they all wanted to solve the cases and were afraid of sharing too much information with other departments who would then get the bust and the credit and glory. Remember, in politics or bureaucracies, information is power. I have spent 20years I have looked at these cases and studied them from every possible angle, and I can say with complete confidence that there is NO evidence anywhere of any cover up or conspiracy. However, every one is still keeping information to themselves, so that what reaches one jurisdiction often doesn't reach the others. They are all afraid of giving up their info and watching someone else get the collar on the killer and get all the glory (Who knows, maybe a book or a movie deal). Add to this the fact that when this happened, it was something new, serial killers were not a well know type of menace.-To be Continued....

I want to give you some examples of no communication between Departments; I first became aware of this problem when I was talking with Gray and I asked Gray what he thought about some info I had given to Tobias, to my great surprise, Gray told me that Tobias never mentioned me or any info I had given him (Tobias). I know that after my evidence sharing and lengthy discussions of same with Tobias, he (Tobias) had talked to Gray at least six times. Furthermore, for a while Tobias was calling me almost every night. I had gotten the distinct impression that Tobias had talked with Gray about the info I gave Tobias, as on more than one occasion, while talking with Tobias on the phone, I could hear a door open and some one in the background would say "Hi", Tobias would say something like "Well, Helen, I guess you can guess who that is"' I said "No", Tobias said, "It's Ray". Also, shortly before he passed away, Tobias told me that he and Ray were planning a trip to see John. Who really knows why Tobias kept my info to himself, instead of pooling it with other pieces of the puzzle, but it sure demonstrates compartmentalization of information. Then there is the info I gave Det. Anger when he came up to Alpena, much of which were my only copies including lists of vehicle numbers and lists of John's jobs and his friends, and much more. Why didn't Anger mention any of this to Gray or Robertson??? Where are Tobias' missing notes?? It's known that Tobias didn't use a computer, instead he wrote everything in notebooks that seem to have disappeared... Also, consider the Det. from Ferndale to whom I sent a lot of info in emails that included a list of witnesses, he said he would follow up on all of them, but never did. Like Tobias' notebooks, where is that list of witnesses??? I've been seeing some postings on Topix where it is being said that John was never thoroughly investigated as a suspect. Trust me the LE that did work on it, but couldn't see the big picture because too many competing interests were withholding pieces of the puzzle. * To be continued

Matt, you wanted to know how I was sure that Det. Gray was telling me the truth.Well because he is a good Christian man that wouldn't lie about something like that.

OCCK-OUTRAGE I wish they would finally quit worrying about their own sorry asses and put this thing squarely where it belongs. Not in their war room, not at the water cooler. Out in the open and on the shoulders of the killer(s), dead or alive, as well as on the shoulders of those who knew and did not come forward. Xxxx

OCCK VICTIMS KICKED TO THE CURB AGAIN!! It would seem that Michigan Authorities have lost their appetite for this matter. I get the impression that the Prosecutor's office has no interest in closing this case, and the Ag's office has no interest in investigating these cases because that would require resurrecting them and reminding the world of their inefficiency....

"I know you're a serial killer But Posted on January 16, 2008 at 05:01:32 AM by Helen Dagner
I know it is sort of like my telling John, "I know you're a serial killer, but I mean that in the best possible way." The stalker analogy seemed like a creepy compliment to give to someone. Helen

Occk Victims Families If they are so dissatisfied with the direction this investigation is going they need to request a Special Prosecutor? No one can do that except for them_ Well, I must say this comment intrigues me. I know you have some stuff that you have been holding back on for the right moment (e.g. John's picture from the mid-70s). However, based on this email below from Friday, I bet there is more- Matt

Helen, If you want, I can bring you up-to-speed with what is going on this end. The basic gist of it is that now that my Dad has filed FOIA lawsuits against the MSP and Jessica Cooper's office, it is of course war. The MSP is represented by the AG's office, and the AAG seems to be somewhat reasonable. Maybe because the odds are they are going to lose, given the case law. Jessica Cooper, on the other hand, is off her nut and the fight she is putting up is ridiculous! They have a better argument--attorney work product, but her response in this case has been nothing short of embarrassing. In the two months since that case was filed, it has already been to the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court (twice). She is trying to appeal every little ruling and the courts are starting to get pissed off. The woman can't return my Dad's phone calls or letters last summer or this past winter, but she can spend taxpayer dollars filing inches and inches of frivolous and ridiculous pleadings in court. If she had returned one of my Dad's calls and just been half-way normal with him, she could have had him eating out of her hand. What a dumb-ass.
Oakland County and the MSP have not communicated with Wayne County or Livonia since February. Same deal--no returned calls or emails. I get the sense the MSP has something up their sleeve and they are trying to find a way to manipulate the message for public consumption (which will probably take another two years, minimum).
In the last phone call my Dad had a few weeks before the MSP blew him off completely, followed by the lawsuit, my Dad asked if John Hastings had been polygraphed in Atlanta yet. Love said he didn't know, but he would find out. That was the end of that. My brother asked Cory about it recently and Cory said he doubted the MSP had done it. I just want you to know I will never let these people walk away from John Hastings or settle for the lame investigation of him that they did. My Dad finally understands, given the behavior of the MSP, that these guys are hiding a lot of nuts. The guy wanted to believe in them so badly, but now he gets it. Cathy
